OpenBI LLC is seeking an experienced business intelligence developer who has several years of consulting experience delivering business intelligence and java-based web applications to join a startup, angel-funded professional services/outsourcing firm specializing in open source technologies. OpenBI is a professional services company uniquely focused on providing open source business intelligence (OSBI) consulting/outsourcing solutions to the commercial marketplace. We improve our customers’ business performance by blending the expertise of veteran BI practitioners with low-cost open source technology infrastructure to create affordable, high-quality solutions.

OpenBI has established a unique niche in the open source BI Industry. Analysts predict significant continued growth for both open source and business intelligence and OpenBI is strategically positioned to leverage that growth with offerings that provide quality BI delivery -- affordably. Research has shown that OSBI solutions are now attractive to both the Fortune 1000, for lower cost of deployment, and the Fortune 10,000, for previously unavailable intelligence options. Our 3-person leadership team has a cumulative 70 years of technology and services background, having played prominent roles in a BI services firm that issued an IPO in 1999. We have established partnerships with open source vendors and also architected our own OSBI technology stack that will provide BI solutions at a significant reduction to current commercial pricing. We fully expect to immediately assume a pace position in building the OSBI market in the Midwest.

The OpenBI Business Intelligence Developer will play a key role in chartering OpenBI’s consulting delivery capabilities and culture – focusing on creating high-quality client solutions and assisting with business development, thought leadership and organizational growth responsibilities.

For consideration, a desirable candidate will present the following:

• A minimum of three years experience delivering BI and Java-based web application consulting services for a solutions-driven organization
• Experience with leading open source technologies including:
  - Linux
  - JBoss AS
  - JBoss Portal
  - PostgreSQL or MySQL
  - PHP, Perl, Python or Ruby
• Expertise with J2EE application development, testing and deployment
• Expertise with XML and XSLT
• Design and implementation experience with ETL technologies including any or all of the following:
  - Informatica
  - DataStage
  - Oracle Warehouse Builder
  - Kettle (open source)
• Development experience with Java SDK’s from such vendors as:
  - BusinessObjects
  - Cognos
• Database design and server programming experience with:
  - Oracle
  - SQL Server
  - DB2
  - PostgreSQL
  - MySQL
• Strong communication and client interaction skills
• Strong logic, analytical and problem solving capabilities
• Ability and willingness to be hands-on in all aspects of delivery projects
• Enthusiasm for startup business model with ability to create the foundation for an enduring delivery function
• Comfortable working in a team-based delivery model, yet able to produce while working independently
• Conceptual understanding of the open source movement and OS business models
• College Degree
• Ability to travel to clients as required
